The Louet drum carders make carding easy!

The carders

  • are made of laminated birch
  • have a hard white coating.
  • In order to ensure a long life, the tines on all Louet carders are made of high grade plated steel wire.
  • has long, flexible tines,  11mm deep, which allows a heavier batt to be made.
  • has  either 46 tpi   or  72 tpi. (tines per square inch) carding cloth
  • Extra Fine carding cloth 72 tpi perfectly cards fine fibres as well as other coarser fibres   
  • Fine cloth of 46 tpi  is recommended for medium to long fibres, making batts quickly for felting, easily cards wool 
  • the gearbox has strong enclosed gears for smooth and easy operation and to prevent fibres entering the gear system.
  • Requires no lubrication 
  • Requires no adjustment of any kind 
  • has no belts that wear out or slip 
  • Table Clamps, Doffer Brush and Doffer Pin included
  • An instruction manual written by well known author and fibre artist Deb Menz is included with all drumcarders.

 

 Louet Drum carders

  •  have intermeshing teeth for great carding performance. You can card fibers without pre-teasing. Fibre can be fed directly into the licker-in (feeder drum)
  • the extra high, flexible teeth allow for a heavier batt than other drum carders as well as a high carding efficiency.

For drumcarders it is common to mention the gear ratio that drives the licker-in when you rotate the large drum. 
However, what really counts for carding is the ratio of the surface speed of both drums. You get this by multiplying the gear ratio with the ratio of the diameters of the large drum and the licker-in. This surface speed ratio for all the carders is 12:1

Small:

 The Louet  10cm wide Roving Junior Carder 

If you card fibers occasionally or card for small projects, the Louet Roving Carder is a great way to start drum carding.

  • You can thoroughly blend colours for heather yarn
  • It is perfect to card fibres for small projects like for socks, hats and scarves.
  • has a  10cm (four inch) wide drum
  • makes a batt of about 10 x75cm  (4 by 30 inches) similar in width to a commercial roving..

       Standard  Carder has an 19cm  wide drum for large carding capacity   

       make a big batt of about  19 x 75 cm

      •  Weight 7 kg   (16 pounds)

       

        Large 

         the XL Standard Carder, the drum is 30 cm wide, almost 12 inches wide.
