For all weavers using 4 shafts or more...Plan your next weaving using weaving software to test colours, find the longest float, print out a threading and a lifting in a size that is easy to see, check the balance and structure of your design. Record all the details in the notes sections. Start as a beginner, and become skilled! Change your colour combinations to see what works well, and match the colours of your stash!

Double two tie weaves.
This is a very versatile threading. One of my desires is not to thread very often, but weave a lot of different structures, and this is one threading that does twills in blocks, basket weave, plaited twill, double weave, combinations of these, Summer and Winter and stitched cloth. It can be used for light fabrics, to create warm heavy quilted fabrics and floor rugs. The workshop will be theory and weaving…. a come, think and play workshop!
Tutor: Liz Calnan
Skill Level: Advanced.
Number of students: 8-10
Equipment: work on your own 8 shaft loom, shuttles, 2 note folders etc. laptop for designing, an advantage.
Material fee for notes, and additional yarn use for samples on my looms.
Ripsmatta
Ripsmatta is a thicker fabric that is mostly used for placemats, floor rugs and wall hangings. With colour (and 8 shafts) it has great possibilities Sample that will be completed will be suitable for table looms, 10-12cm wide, with cotton yarn… a taste for a bigger adventure!

Day 2 is used for dressing the loom- at home.
Day 3 is weaving day.
